MORE CHOCOLATE CAKE BUT WHITE AND FLORAL

Today got up early with the dogs. Weather was icy. All the grass was covered.
Had to be really careful in the chicken run as the mud was so hard to walk on.
Their drinkers were solid so had to sort them out. .Made my hands cold!

Spent the morning doing washing and dishwasher, these things never seem to end.
My children did not get up till lunchtime, Lucky them! Son had 3rd diving lesson,
really enjoying them. Drove on main roads for the first time today.

Had to pop to stables to sort horses out and treat them with a couple of carrots.

Then back home in the warm to make a roast dinner and a lovely
                   chocolate cake for after.

This is my chocolate cake with white vanilla icing and flowers.

                                                            I cheated with the topping.

                                                   Then added hundreds and thousands.

I love the soft colours of this cake. I could of decorated it more
neatly but it was only for us. And it was eatten straight away.

At the top of this post I said Today. But this post was written Saturday.
Today  has been a good warm day.Just in case someone in Cornwall
                                thinks I have gone mad!

BACK AFTER A LITTLE BREAK- HOME MADE CHOCOLATE CAKE

HI EVERYONE.

It seems I have been on a longer break than I realised

It started out as a couple of weeks off to catch up with that thing called home life
but then life got in the way and it went on a bit longer.
Anyway.back now, thank you to all my followers for keeping with me. x

One thing I have been doing more of is baking.
It is hard as I only have a AGA so it is a bit of hit or miss.

But here is my children's favourite cake.

CHOCOLATE OF COURSE!

I just used a old trusted recipe of an all in one cake.
And made extra for some small cakes as well.

This is a well used family book (not just for children)
As you can see notes have been written over the years.

                                                       TWO

                                 Then there were THREE

And to stick it all together.
                                  More chocolate. Butter cream.

                                 It was yummy!

.

I think my cake making is getting a little better.

                                What do you think?

TONIGHT'S HOME MADE TREAT

I have been pottering about the house and garden today.
Everyday I look  around and there are so many jobs that need doing.
The list is endless.

Today I picked my first Rhubarb.

And tonight I made the first crumble of the year.

All my oven dishes were in the dishwasher. Does that happen to you?
So I used one of my loaf tins, which did the job nicely.

And what do you have with crumble.
Cornish Ice Cream of course.

I am now sitting on sofa completely full !

What did you do today ?

Have you made any dishes out of your own home grown yet ?

Looking forward to many more treats.

My Lucky Find Of The Day - Avery Scales.

Look what I found at a Boot Fair!

A beautiful Vintage Avery Scales. A could not believe it. There they were on the grass, surrounded by
odds and bobs.

I had to jump in quick because I wasn"t the only one interested. With a bit of  haggling I got them for
£40. A bargain I think....

They weigh in the old lbs and ounces, up to 2lbs. I prefer this as I"m old school. Never quite got the hang of kilos. They are very large and very heavy. I had trouble carrying them back to the car.

As you can see they are taking pride of place in  my kitchen. They fit in perfectly. I have already used
them for baking cakes. Here to many more happy days of baking!
